David Mahoney - CEO & President

David Mahoney has over 30 years experience as an innovator, entrepreneur, executive and investor in the software industry. In 1973 Mr. Mahoney joined Data General Corp. as a software engineer. Over the next ten years he moved into a Director level position and eventually came to manage all communications, networking and workstation related software and hardware development. In May of 1983 he left DG to create a venture funded company named Banyan Systems to address a need for software solutions that could effectively network incompatible systems together to share resources. The company went public in 1992 with over $90M in annual revenue and subsequently grew to over $150M. In 1994 Mr. Mahoney created an internal business unit called Switchboard that developed and delivered the first comprehensive white/yellow pages service for Internet users. Switchboard grew to become jointly funded by AOL and CBS and ultimately became a public company in 1999. In April of 2003, he became the permanent President & CEO of Applix, a Westboro, Massachusetts based publicly held software company focused on developing office automation solutions, CRM applications and analytics technology. During this period the company's market valuation increased 300% and Applix is now recognized as a strong player in the rapidly growing Business Intelligence and Corporate Performance Management markets.

During his career Mr. Mahoney has been a guest speaker at numerous industry and financial conferences. He was a founding trustee of the Mass. Software Council and has been involved on various local advisory Boards with organizations such as the Mass. Telecommunications Council, Mass. Technology Council, Babson College and Clark University Graduate School of Management.
